Why do some robotic mowers require some type of tower or antenna and some can receive signal in other way?

It all depends on the type of RTK positioning the company uses. Basically two kinds, closed systems that have short range antenna (200 yards to 5 miles) or network systems similar to the cellular network, but focused on RTK networks either through commercial, private network, or public/state systems.
